Parent Support Consultant
Leslie O’Brien is our Parent Support Consultant. The foundation of her work is the realization of dreams. She easily sees the strengths and capabilities of those she works with and continually doubles back to ensure that her approach aligns with each person’s needs in the moment as they progress toward the fulfillment of their goals.
“I want to learn the real answer,” she says. Active listening and insightful agility—her ability to learn new things and quickly pivot—work together in her search for it. She finds inimitable reward in serving people—parents and students—as they discover that they can achieve their goals when they get the support they need.
Leslie has nearly two decades of clinical experience developing specialized programs supporting teens, adults, and groups. Before joining Focus Collegiate in 2017, she was part of Aspire at Massachusetts General Hospital, where she developed, directed, and conducted neurodiversity trainings, consultation programs, and an internship program that provide over 50 area employers with carefully matched intern candidates diagnosed with high cognitive Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Non-Verbal Learning Disorder and related profiles.
She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and has worked as the school social worker at an independent private school in Brookline, MA, and supported children, teens, and adults in residential, educational, and outpatient settings in the Boston area and in Binghamton, NY.
Leslie has conducted numerous neurodiversity workshops for colleges and employers and has given numerous presentations at local and regional conferences. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Master of Social Work from Binghamton University in Binghamton, NY.Email Leslie O’Brien
