Sam Prince
Collegiate Life Specialist

Sam Prince is a Collegiate Life Specialist at Focus Collegiate. He helps students stay on top of their coursework, connect with campus resources, and build routines that actually work, while keeping an eye on the bigger picture: balance, well-being, and day-to-day life.
Sam has a grounded, approachable presence. Students often describe him as easy to talk to and refreshingly real—someone they can trust to be supportive and honest.
His path into education started right after college, when he took a job as a “dorm dad” for high school skiers. That experience sparked something lasting. Wanting to deepen his impact, he went on to earn his M.A. in Education and Human Development from the University of Colorado Denver. Over the past decade, he’s designed curriculum, supported families, advocated for students, and led teams—all with a focus on helping students grow in meaningful, sustainable ways.
Before joining Focus Collegiate, Sam worked in senior admissions roles at selective liberal arts colleges. That experience gave him a behind-the-scenes understanding of how colleges operate, how students succeed, where they struggle, and where systems don’t always deliver the support they promise. He now uses that insight to help his students navigate college more effectively.
At the core of Sam’s work is the relationship he builds with each student. “I care for my students in such an in-depth way that it builds open communication and trust. For them, I’m a neutral party who is not their parents, professors, or roommates. They can tell me anything. I’m their mirror and their sounding board. This trusting relationship paves the way to direct challenge. In radical candor, the more you care, the more frank you can be.”
He’s also great at helping students feel heard. “One of my greatest strengths is making students feel heard—even on Zoom. It empowers them to succeed in college and navigate to professions they love.”
Sam specializes in executive function coaching, helping students build practical, repeatable strategies they can rely on. He takes a holistic approach, often starting sessions with a simple check-in: how are you doing this week? It’s a small question that opens the door for students to show up fully—and do their best work.
